Fuel Users
Maverick Value Chain: Feedstock Producers & Processors > Fuel Technology Companies > Fuel Distributors > Engine & Vehicle Manufacturers > Fuel Users
Maverick’s mixed-alcohol biofuel (MBF) has more energy (BTUs) than ethanol and contains approximately 85% of the energy of gasoline. Higher energy content translates to higher gas mileage when compared to ethanol or ethanol blends. MBF is a cleaner-burning and can be used as a direct replacement for gasoline in flexible fuel engines, thus reducing the dependency on petroleum.
More Energy per Gallon
Currently, ethanol can be blended at up to 10% by volume with gasoline (E10) for use in a conventional gasoline engine and at concentrations up to 85% by volume with gasoline (E85) for use in a flexible fuel engine. However, when ethanol is blended at 85%, ethanol’s lower energy content becomes significant and end users will notice a decrease in MPG. This is because E85 contains approximately 25% less energy than pure gasoline. In contrast, an 85% blend of MBF with gasoline will contain approximately 87% of the energy of pure gasoline.
Future Fuel
Maverick’s mixed-alcohol biofuel is a mixture of ethanol, propanol, butanol, and a small percentage of higher carbon content alcohols. This mixture of alcohols will have an energy content that is approximately 85% that of gasoline, will have an octane rating higher than gasoline, and will have general handling characteristics that are more compatible than ethanol with gasoline.
